A Florida teenager is facing serious accusations after allegedly setting his friend on fire during a lakeside gathering that involved alcohol.

The disturbing incident, which was recorded on video, took place on January 11 at Kauffmans Island, located in Lake Kerr, roughly 50 miles southeast of Gainesville.

In the footage, the 17-year-old is heard asking the alarming question, “Do you want to be set on fire?” before carrying out the act.

The victim reportedly stated that he was attempting to flee when the suspect created a dangerous, flammable trail between a bonfire and him, according to a report by the Palm Beach Post.

According to the arrest affidavit, the teenager was seen holding a gas canister and pouring gasoline on the juvenile victim before igniting it.

The victim was rushed to the hospital with second-degree burns to his right hand, leg and bottom, FOX35 reported.

He also suffered ‘deep full thickness’ burns to his lower body as a result of his friend’s actions.

The suspect was later identified as Bradey Ming and arrested by the Marion County Sheriff’s Office.

Ming is facing a felony aggravated battery charge in connection to the fire incident.

He turned himself in and is being held without bond on January 29, according to the outlet.

The video caught a witness screaming, ‘Oh my God. Get in the lake,’ as the teen ran covered in flames.

Others laughed and asked whether the moment was caught on tape.

Police said the teen was ‘messing’ with the flames and created a trail that sparked up and set the victim – who was on fire.

He ran to a lake to put out the flames, according to law enforcement.

The teens returned to one of their houses using jet skis – and only then decided to rush the burn victim to a hospital.

He was life-flighted to UF Health Shands Hospital in Gainesville and admitted to the pediatric intensive care unit for his injuries.

The victim claimed that he did not remember much of what happened during the night he was set on fire.

Initially, he told his mother that he had been trying to throw a water bottle containing gasoline into a fire when it blew up and burned his legs.

His father later discovered a video showing that Ming had actually set him on fire and contacted law enforcement with the evidence.

The victim said he told his parents a lie because Ming ‘did not want him to say anything about the incident.’

He confirmed that he had known Ming ‘for some time’ and talked to him ‘routinely.’

A witness claimed the fire had been started that night because of the cold weather.

According to a police affidavit, an investigator concluded that a reasonable person would deem that the combination of gasoline and fire would cause serious harm

Ming was not arguing with the victim and was apparently not trying to hurt him, the witness said.

However, an investigator said a reasonable person could conclude that the gasoline and fire would cause grave injuries.

Ming was booked into the Marion County Juvenile Justice Center, according to WCJB.

An arrest affidavit said police attempted to make contact with his mother, but she told law enforcement ‘she and her son would not speak to me at the advice of an attorney.’

The victim’s name was redacted in the document provided by law enforcement.

He said he thought he was ‘cool’ with Ming and was unsure as to why he set him on fire.

The Daily Mail has reached out to the Marion County Sheriff’s Office for comment.
