Actor Timothy Busfield has been formally charged in a highly concerning child sex abuse case.
The 68-year-old actor was indicted on four counts of criminal sexual contact with a minor by a New Mexico grand jury last Friday, as disclosed by the Bernalillo County District Attorney’s office in a press announcement.
“In all criminal cases, Mr. Busfield is considered innocent until proven guilty in a court of law,” stated Bernalillo County District Attorney Sam Bregman, according to NBC News.
Bregman further mentioned, “This case will proceed through the judicial system and is anticipated to go to trial.”
The prosecution of Busfield’s case will be handled by the special victims unit of the Bernalillo County District Attorney’s office. No additional details are being shared with the public at this time.
This latest development comes less than a month after the “Thirtysomething” and “West Wing” actor was arrested on charges of child abuse and criminal sexual contact of a minor on Jan. 13.
Busfield has denied the shocking allegations against him.
