(The Hill) — On Friday, the Republican Party debuted a fresh presence on TikTok, coinciding with the day after former Vice President and 2024 presidential hopeful Kamala Harris revitalized her campaign-era social media, KamalaHQ.

Named “Republicans,” the account boasted nearly 6,000 followers by midday. Its profile encourages supporters to “text MAGA to 80810 to help us Make America Great Again!”

The sole post features a montage of President Donald Trump boarding Air Force One, delivering speeches in the Oval Office, clips from his campaign trail, and frequent cuts to the American flag, accompanied by the caption, “The silent majority is silent no longer.”

This development follows Harris’s rebranding of her KamalaHQ account to “Headquarters,” which commands a following of 1.1 million. In a brief video shared on Thursday, Harris explained that the account aims to engage Gen Z and young voters in preparation for the midterm elections.

Parker Butler, who is part of Harris’s team, mentioned on Thursday that the account’s relaunch is intended to bolster the presence of left-leaning content on social media, countering what he perceives as a GOP-dominated digital landscape.

“The right is sort of a machine,” Butler said in an interview with NewsNation’s Jackie Koppell on Thursday. “MAGA is a machine that just turns out content day in and day out in a coordinated way. But the left, you don’t see that as often. So we’ll be working with campaigns and candidates. We’ll also be working with creators and major news pages as well.”
