A suspect has been apprehended in relation to the tragic stabbing that claimed the life of 38-year-old Billy Clark Foster in Orange Park.

On Friday, the Clay County Sheriff’s Office announced the arrest of Charles Franklin Jones Jr., who is now facing charges connected to the fatal incident.

The deadly encounter occurred on Monday in a parking lot situated near the 100 block of Knight Boxx Road, as reported by the authorities.

Following an “extensive” investigation, detectives revealed that Foster and Jones had arranged to meet at the location after days of ongoing communication.

After an “extensive” investigation, CCSO said detectives determined that Foster and Jones planned a meeting at the location after several days of communicating with each other.

“Investigation is still under way to determine the purpose of this meeting,” CCSO said in a Facebook post. “This was an isolated incident between these two individuals and posed no threat to anyone else.”

CCSO said Jones was arrested Thursday during a traffic stop in Orange Park, adding that he was taken into custody without incident.

Jones faces charges of second-degree murder, tampering with evidence, depriving the victim of access to 911 and knowingly driving with a suspended license.
