SAVANNAH, Ga. () — Chilly temperatures are set to make a comeback on Sunday, but a warming trend is on the horizon for the upcoming week.

Saturday was a delightful day, with sunny skies and temperatures climbing into the 60s. However, following the passage of a cold front overnight, dry air has settled into the area. This, combined with high pressure moving in, will cause temperatures to drop rapidly.

Sunday morning will greet residents with freezing conditions, with temperatures dipping into the mid to upper 20s west of I-95 and reaching the freezing mark near the sea islands. Despite abundant sunshine, the daytime highs will only reach into the low 50s.

As the new week unfolds, temperatures will begin to rise. Monday’s weather will be typical for early February, featuring lows in the 30s and highs in the 60s. By Tuesday and Wednesday, mornings will be milder, and afternoon temperatures will soar into the 70s.

Increasing moisture in the area will introduce intermittent showers from Wednesday through the weekend. A stronger wave of moisture accompanied by upper-level energy is expected to bring significant rain chances on Friday, with a slight dip in temperatures to follow.
