TALIAFERRO COUNTY, Ga. — On the afternoon of February 7th, a silver Dodge Durango was intercepted by authorities for speeding on I-20 eastbound, near mile marker 150. The vehicle was clocked at 106 miles per hour, significantly exceeding the 70 mph speed limit.
During the traffic stop, the driver made a sudden escape on foot and managed to evade capture, disappearing into the surroundings as darkness fell.
The driver is believed to be 43-year-old Derrick Delwone Carlyle, who stands approximately 5 feet 11 inches tall and weighs around 240 pounds.
At the time of his disappearance, Carlyle was reportedly dressed in dark gray sweatpants, a black shirt or jacket, and a blue hat.
Carlyle is currently wanted in Richmond County, with a nationwide alert issued for his arrest on charges of felony aggravated stalking.
Charges in Taliaferro County are pending.
The search was conducted with the assistance of the Georgia State Patrol, the Georgia Department of Natural Resources, the Wilkes County Sheriff’s Office K9 unit, the Warren County Sheriff’s Office, and the Richmond County Sheriff’s Office with K9 and drone operators.
