Sulaimon Shekoni Solomon, widely recognized by his stage name Khaid, is a prominent figure in the Nigerian music scene, known for his talents as a singer, songwriter, and rapper. He gained significant attention with his hit single “With You,” following his signing with Sydney Talker’s Neville Records in 2022. This track marked his debut on the Nigeria TurnTable Top 50 singles chart, entering at number forty-eight on February 14, 2022. Interestingly, Khaid embraced Christianity after leaving Islam.

Born on December 10, 2004, Khaid hails from a family with southern Nigerian roots. Growing up in the bustling city of Lagos, specifically in the Ojo area, he spent his early years surrounded by his family, including his seven siblings. His upbringing in a middle-class Christian household played a pivotal role in shaping his musical journey.
From an early age, Khaid was drawn to music, inspired by the vibrant Afrobeats scene and influential Nigerian artists such as 2baba, P-Square, D’banj, Wizkid, Davido, and Olamide. His parents prioritized his education, ensuring he attended reputable private schools for his primary and secondary education. He furthered his studies at a distinguished university in the southwestern region of Nigeria.
Khaid’s musical journey began in the streets of Ojo, where he honed his skills and developed his unique style. His breakthrough came in 2021 when he shared a freestyle on Instagram that went viral, catching the eye of Sydney Talker. This led to a recording contract and his official introduction to the music industry on January 20, 2022, as the inaugural artist of Sydney Talker’s Neville Records.
Career
Khaid began his musical career on the streets of Ojo. Khaid posted a viral freestyle on Instagram in 2021, which piqued the interest of Sydney Talker, who offered him a recording contract and launched him to the world on January 20, 2022, as Sydney’s Neville Records’ first artist.
On January 28, 2022, he released his first single, “With You,” which peaked at number 48 on Nigeria’s TurnTable chart. Olu the Wave directed the accompanying music video, which presently has 4.1 million views on YouTube as of February 2023.
He released “SKI” on April 22, 2022, and the music video was directed by Sydney Talker. According to Native author Wonu Osikoya, “Ski” paints an honest picture of his life before fame. On May 27, 2022, Khaid released his six-track first extended play Diversity (stylised as DIVERSITY).
Wonu Osikoya, writing for The Native, described the EP as “a collage of vibrant sounds that will appeal to the young and the young-at-heart”. On June 4, 2022, Khaid’s single “With You” topped the Pulse Nigeria Future Sounds Vol. 10 playlist.
On June 22, 2022, he was chosen as Apple Music’s Up Next Artist in Nigeria. During an interview on Cool FM 96.9 Lagos’ Midday Show with Do2tun and Eve on August 2, 2022, he discusses how a direct message from Sydney Talker transformed his life.
He released “Amala” on November 9, 2022, following the success of his freestyle on Instagram and TikTok. “Amala” features guest vocals from Zlatan and Rexxie, who also serves as producer. Sydney Talker directed the accompanying visualiser.
On November 14, 2022, “Amala” debuted at 91 on the official Nigeria TurnTable Top 100 Songs, 66 on Top Streaming Songs, and 24 on Top Street-POP Songs. On January 20, 2023, “Jolie” debuted at number 92 on the official Nigeria TurnTable Top 100 tracks, and was released for digital streaming on January 25, 2023.
OkayAfrica dubbed it one of the Best Afrobeats tracks out right now. On January 30, 2023, he ranked first on TurnTable’s NXT Emerging Top Artists.
On January 31, 2023, Spotify named him one of the upcoming musicians to watch in Nigeria, alongside Tempoe and Poco Lee. On February 13, 2023, “Jolie” reached number seven on the official Nigeria TurnTable Top 100 songs.
On 14 February 2023, Sydney Talker posts a screenshot of his Instagram DM in which Davido comments on “Jolie” with the words “I have played this song like 100 times in my house”. On February 18, 2023, “Jolie” was named fifth on TheCable’s top ten TCL radio picks of the week.
The video for ‘Anabella’ was released on July 24th and directed by The Peacock. And in 2024 he released Orobo, which became a household favourite, and now he is about to release Beku, which fans are hyped up and can’t wait to listen to as he gave a teaser on his socials, and the song is one of his most used on TikTok.

Personal Life
Khaid lives in a big, well-furnished serviced apartment block in Lagos. He has a close relationship with his label head, Sydney Talker, and his close associates. When he is not in the studio, he enjoys spending time with Sydney Talker and his pals.
Khaid, the rapidly rising singer, is thought to be unmarried at the time. This is because he hasn’t stated that he’s in a relationship. However, the next few days will answer this question.
His fans are known as the Shleet Gang. He also goes by KK’s nickname, which he mentions at the start of his freestyle videos.
