Sometimes, even the most carefully crafted plans can lead to incarceration.

This is a recurring theme in Oxygen’s gripping series, A Plan to Kill, which returns on March 8 with a brand-new season. The series delves into the chilling cases of cunning criminals who attempt to carry out some of the most shocking murders across the nation.

“Murder requires a certain mindset,” stated a press release for the show’s second season. “But to craft a detailed and calculated plan to end a life—that requires a whole new level of brutality.” The series, A Plan to Kill, offers an in-depth look at true crime stories featuring disturbed individuals who spend considerable time meticulously plotting their victims’ deaths.

As it enters its second season, the show will explore diverse cases, including the murder of an elementary school teacher with an unconventional gun silencer and the intricate deceit of charming con artists following the disappearance of a Palm Springs art dealer.

“Drawing from firsthand accounts of investigators who cracked these cases, as well as insights from the victims’ loved ones, the series uncovers the sinister plans behind the murders,” the press release continued. “Ultimately, no matter how elaborate the scheme, homicide detectives navigate through dead ends, misleading clues, and false leads to identify the perpetrator and ensure justice is served.”

As one suspect lamented in an all-new trailer, “What am I gonna tell my mother? I can’t tell her I killed somebody.”

The season will feature 10 new episodes, each bringing true crime fans deep into the creative killers’ mindsets as they set out to take a life. From staged home invasions to eating the evidence inside an interrogation room, these culprits will stop at nothing in their attempts to deceive investigators.

“This is a man with so much ego,” one man remarked of a suspect in the preview, “he’s like, ‘I can do anything.’”

Others close to the cases commented in the promo on the complex nature of the crimes, whether it was scavenger hunt instructions and a live bomb or using a potato as a makeshift gun silencer.

“It’s ruthless,” one woman said. “It’s calculated. It’s evil.”

A Plan to Kill is produced by The Intellectual Property Corporation (IPC), a part of Sony Pictures Television. Eli Holzman and Aaron Saidman will serve as executive producers on the series along with showrunner Haylee Vance.

Until the season two premiere March 8, true crime fans can catch up on the first season of A Plan to Kill, available now on Fandango at Home.
