SAVANNAH, Ga. () — Following the conclusion of the regular season, coaches from Region 3-AAA gathered to cast their votes for the end-of-season accolades.

This region includes teams from Long County, Liberty County, Calvary Day School, Beach, Jenkins, Islands, Johnson, Windsor Forest, Groves, and Southeast Bulloch.

Ricardo Rivera, who guided Long County to a stellar season with a 12-1 region record and an overall 20-5, was honored as Coach of the Year alongside Beach’s Simon Heyward, who led the Bulldogs to a 17-8 overall record and 10-3 within the region.

Elijah Brown from Liberty County was distinguished as the Player of the Year. Brown, also a standout running back on the football field, boasted impressive stats, averaging 24 points, six rebounds, three assists, three steals, and two blocks per game for the Panthers.

Offensive Player of the Year honors were shared between Calvary Day’s Demetrius Brown and Long County’s Jy’son Mallard. Brown contributed an average of 18 points and five assists per game, while Mallard impressed with 15.1 points per game.

Defensive Player of the Year was awarded to Calvary Day’s Chol Kiir Chol Deng.

The coaches also voted on First-Team All-Region and Second-Team All-Region.

First-Team All-Region is as follows:

DJ Hillis (Islands), Zyi’air Holt (Long County), Quentin James (Johnson), Jayce Jenkins (Beach), Dominique Johnson (Jenkins), Marlon Knight (Calvary Day), Ja’mere Martin (Long County), Jordon Massey (Jenkins), Keanu Maynard (Liberty County), Jordan Newton (Beach) and Aaden Peterson (Southeast Bulloch).

Second-Team All-Region:

Jermaine Baker (Windsor Forest), Aaron Brown (Liberty County), Kyje Davis (Groves), Kejuan Ferguson (Beach), Jamel Flaggs (Groves), Kelvin Hayes Jr. (Long County), Jamari Jenkins (Calvary Day), Maurice Knight Jr. (Johnson) and Jonathan Talbert (Long County).

Regular seasons have wrapped up, and teams now head into the region tournament before the GHSA state tournament.
