SAVANNAH, Ga. — Residents and officials have raised significant concerns regarding the living conditions at two senior housing complexes in Savannah. Reports suggest the situations at these facilities, Veranda at Midtown and The Romana Riley Lofts, are far from acceptable.

Issues cited by residents include malfunctioning appliances such as leaky dishwashers and broken stoves, as well as an absence of heating during the colder months. Despite facing these challenges, residents claim they are experiencing rent hikes without any improvement in essential services. Complaints have reportedly gone unanswered for an extended period.

Jenovis Randall, a resident, shared her frustrations, stating, “For 10 months, I was without a dryer. The replacement they provided also broke down. My dishwasher is another headache; it simply spills water all over the floor.”

In response, two city officials have pledged to take action after receiving numerous complaints from residents. Aldermen Dietrich Leggett and Alderwoman Linda Wilder Bryan have committed to advocating on behalf of those living at The Veranda and The Romana Riley Lofts.
