Ricky Martin, 20, and Kentravious Holmes, 21, found themselves behind bars at the Sumter County Jail in Americus, Georgia, a town situated roughly 139 miles south of Atlanta.

Late Sunday night, two inmates, both facing severe charges including murder, made their escape from a Georgia detention facility.

The duo, Ricky Martin and Kentravious Holmes, were being held at the Sumter County Jail. Their charges encompassed murder, aggravated assault, and aggravated battery, as confirmed by the Sumter County Sheriff’s office.

Sheriff Eric Bryant revealed that the pair likely exploited a maintenance door on the building’s ceiling that had not been secured properly. Authorities are still piecing together their potential whereabouts but have made contact with the inmates’ families for clues.

The escape occurred around 9:30 p.m. on Sunday night.

Four men escaped a central Georgia jail in 2023.
