Kid Rock swiftly addressed the circulating rumors that he lip-synced during the Turning Point USA’s event, The All-American Halftime Show.
In an interview with Laura Ingraham on Fox News, Kid Rock tackled the allegations head-on, clarifying that his headline performance at the halftime show was entirely pre-recorded. He mentioned that this process made it “very difficult” for the production team to perfectly align his audio with the video afterward.
“Had the vocals been pre-recorded, syncing them up would have been a breeze,” he remarked. “The task was quite challenging for the Turning Point production crew, who, I must say, did an excellent job, but this particular aspect was quite tough for them.”
According to Variety, The All-American Halftime Show was pre-recorded in advance in Atlanta, Georgia, presenting a significant challenge for the production crew at Turning Point USA.
Kid Rock elaborated, “I’m leaping around the stage like a wild monkey, performing my song, taking breaths, while my DJ fills in the gaps. I even pointed out when I reviewed the initial cut, stating, ‘You need to improve that sync. It’s off.’ It was purely a syncing issue they faced, and I know they put in a great effort to get it right. It was a tough task.”
Viewers accused Kid Rock of lip singing in the comments of Turning Point USA’s halftime show on YouTube.
“How does kid rock manage to get those words out when the mic is no where near his face and his mouth closed, what an amazing talent,” one user commented.
Another noted, “Kid Rock is one hell of a ventriloquist.”
“Wow they aren’t even trying to hide Kid Rock’s lip syncing lol,” another use wrote.
Kid Rock claimed he received “overwhelming” support both before and after the performance. “I thought it was really going to move some mountains, make some waves,” he said.
The show also featured performances from Brantley Gilbert, Lee Brice, and Gabby Barrett. Though there were rumors swirling that the performance had been canceled, the show went on as planned, streaming on Turning Point USA’s YouTube channel, Rumble platforms, and CHARGE! Channel at the same time as Bad Bunny’s performance at the Super Bowl halftime.
The performance reportedly had 6.1 million concurrent viewers when it aired live Sunday evening.
It now stands at 21.1 million views.
