Kelly Rowland recently shared a heartwarming experience about her youngest son, Noah, who witnessed her live performance for the first time last fall. The event took place during a tour she shared with fellow artists Brandy and Monica.
At that time, Noah was four years old and attended the concert alongside several of Rowland’s family members. During her appearance on The Jennifer Hudson Show, Rowland reflected on the experience, noting her uncertainty about how her son would react to seeing her perform live.
“Honestly, I had no idea what to expect,” Rowland confessed. “They were all there with my family, watching the show, and it was such a beautiful moment.”
Following her performance, the mother of two recounted her interaction with Noah backstage.
“When I came backstage, Noah told me, ‘Mommy, you did so good,’” she remembered fondly. “He was just beaming with happiness and pride.”
“The first time I came to the back, Noah said, ‘Mommy, you did so good,’” she recalled. “He was so happy and proud.”
From her sister’s vantage point in the audience, Noah’s reaction throughout the show appeared more complicated. Rowland said her sister later described him sitting in her lap, closely watching both the stage and the crowd.
Rowland said her sister told her, ‘You should’ve seen his face! He was trying to figure out why people were responding, and then he’d see you, and you’d laugh, and then you’d go to dancing, and he was like trying to take it all in,’ ” she continued.
According to Kelly Rowland, her sister noticed Noah’s expressions shifting during the performance.
“‘He would be upset, and then he’d be smiling.’ She was like, ‘It was like a race of emotions.’ I just thought it was really cool. I wish we would have filmed that.”
The talk show appearance also comes as the singer promotes her new film Relationship Goals, which also stars Method Man. In the movie, she plays a woman navigating relationships and personal loss.
In a separate interview with REVOLT, Rowland said parts of the story connected with her own life, particularly when it comes to honoring her late mother.
“We celebrate my mama all the time,” she said, adding that the lessons her mother taught her continue to shape how she raises her children. “I’m always thinking about the tools she gave me and how I pass those on to my kids.”
