Andrew Mountbatten-Windsor is reported to have sent enthusiastic emails to Jeffrey Epstein, seeking permission to stay at the financier’s residences mere weeks following Epstein’s release from incarceration for sex offenses.
Documents from the Department of Justice reveal that during his visit to Paris, the former royal was given access to Epstein’s vehicles and chauffeurs while residing in the financier’s apartment there.
On September 6, 2009, not long after Epstein’s release, Andrew allegedly reached out via email requesting to use the Paris apartment for what he described as a private weekend.
“Dear Jeffrey, it’s been far too long since we last communicated,” Andrew is said to have written.
“I need to be in Paris the weekend of the 11th to the 14th of September, and I recall you have an apartment there. I was wondering if it might be possible for me to use it for the weekend?” he allegedly inquired.
“This is a private weekend, and I am already booked into a hotel but on the off chance that you would allow me to use your apartment, it would be really great from a number of perspectives.
“If this is either inappropriate or unavailable then I apologise for asking. I look forward to catching up with you personally before too long and in the meantime send you my very best wishes.”
Epstein replied “of course” before quickly offering his car and driver. Andrew thanked him for the hospitality.
The emails were sent from an account named The Duke, and signed off either Andrew or the letter A.
Two months later, Andrew asked Epstein if he could stay in his “beautiful apartment” between Dec 4 and Dec 6.
He told Epstein about his business trips to Singapore. Andrew served as the UK’s Special Representative for International Trade and Investment between 2001 and 2011.
Andrew allegedly emailed Epstein on his 50th birthday, Friday, February 19, 2010, according to the DOJ files.
He replied to an email from Epstein, who wrote: “Hope Friday doesn’t freak you out, old man.”
Andrew asked Epstein if someone known only as S, thought to be Sarah Ferguson, could stay in Epstein’s New York home.
Andrew has always denied wrongdoing over his links to Epstein.
In 2022, he settled with Virginia Giuffre, who claimed she was forced to have sex with Andrew in the early 2000s.
But calls are mounting for Andrew to testify in front of Congress.
Thames Valley Police– the force which patrols the location of Andrew’s former residence, the Royal Lodge in Windsor — is probing two recently-filed complaints relating to the ex-prince.
The department confirmed last week it was reviewing claims made by a woman who suggested Epstein sent her to the UK to have sex with Andrew at Royal Lodge — when he was still known as Prince Andrew, Duke of York, titles which have since been stripped from him.
Then on Monday, it said it was assessing a complaint that he allegedly forwarded confidential trade files to Epstein, which an anti-monarchy campaigner reported to police as suspected misconduct in public office and a breach of Britain’s Official Secrets Act.
King Charles expressed “profound concern” over the allegations that surfaced in relation to his younger brother.
Epstein was sentenced to 18 months in prison in June 2008 after pleading guilty to prostitution charges in Florida. He served his sentence on a work-release program before being released from prison in July 2009.
