In a tragic turn of events, a couple from Kentucky faces serious charges following the discovery of their deceased infant, more than a year after they initially reported a miscarriage. Charles and Deeann Bennett, residing in Booneville, have been implicated in a case that has left their community in shock.
According to the Kentucky State Police, the incident came to light when the Bennetts visited a hospital, claiming that Deeann had suffered a miscarriage. However, a subsequent investigation led officers to the couple’s home, where they made a grim discovery—the body of the infant discarded over an embankment outside the residence. This revelation has prompted a series of charges against the couple.
Deeann Bennett, aged 27, is now facing multiple charges, including reckless homicide, tampering with physical evidence, abuse of a corpse, and concealing a birth. Her husband, Charles Bennett, aged 32, is charged with reckless homicide and concealing a birth, adding to the gravity of the situation.
The investigation kicked off on November 29, 2024, when authorities were alerted to the situation after Deeann Bennett arrived at the hospital claiming a miscarriage. Following the discovery, the infant’s body was quickly sent to the Kentucky Medical Examiner’s Office for an autopsy. However, the findings of this autopsy have not been disclosed by the state police, leaving many questions unanswered.
State police did not reveal the results of the autopsy.
Indictments were handed up on January 22, and the Bennetts were arrested on February 9. They’re being held without bond at the Three Forks Jail and are due in court on March 2, Law&Crime reported.
