CORTINA D’AMPEZZO, Province of Belluno — Beyond her Olympic glory, Breezy Johnson will be returning from Italy with a new chapter in her life — she’s now engaged. The Olympic skier, fresh from her performance at the 2026 Games, accepted a proposal from her boyfriend, Connor Watkins.

The U.S. Ski and Snowboarding team announced this joyful news on Thursday, coinciding with Johnson’s participation in the women’s super-G event.

Accompanying the announcement were images of the exquisite ring: a sleek silver band featuring a vibrant blue gemstone, complemented by tiny diamonds set within the metal.

The proposal came with a special touch, as the box holding the ring was engraved with the words, “Honestly, who are we to fight the alchemy?”

Johnson had just completed her final Olympic event of the 2026 Games, a disappointing DNF in the women’s super-G, one of her favorite races.

Before the super-G, Johnson competed Tuesday with her childhood friend and teammate Mikaela Shiffrin in the alpine skiing women’s team combined event. The pair was 0.06 seconds away from a podium finish in that race.

And she was the first American to medal in the 2026 Games, taking home the first-place finish in the women’s alpine ski downhill race.

Johnson finished in 1 minute, 36.10 seconds to hold off Emma Aicher of Germany by just .04 seconds, securing the first medal for the United States of these Winter Games in the process. Italy’s Sofia Goggia, the 2018 Olympic downhill winner and 2022 silver medalist, finished with the bronze.
