The man responsible for the death of a Glenview police officer is expected to be released before the year ends, according to reports from Rolling Meadows, Illinois.
Christopher Lopez admitted guilt to a charge of reckless homicide involving a motor vehicle in the case of Officer Robert Fryc’s tragic passing.
In an incident last February, Lopez was accused of swerving into oncoming traffic on South Northwest Highway, resulting in a fatal collision with Officer Fryc’s vehicle.
Despite being rushed to the hospital, Officer Fryc succumbed to his injuries. He was 43 years old at the time.
Officer Fryc had been a dedicated member of the Glenview Police Department since 2007.

A judge sentenced Lopez to three years at IDOC, to be served at 50%. He was given credit for the 355 days he already served, record show.
He will likely be released by the end of the year.
Officer Fryc was on his way to work at about 4 a.m. when the crash happened.
Prosecutors say Lopez admitted to having multiple drinks before driving.
