The family of Nancy Guthrie is enduring further distress as the FBI’s investigation into her disappearance has yet to result in any arrests, despite the agency identifying multiple “persons of interest.”
FBI Director Kash Patel shared with Fox News on Tuesday that several individuals are currently under scrutiny. He refrained from providing specific details about these persons, maintaining a level of confidentiality regarding the ongoing investigation.
Patel explained, “In the past 36 to 48 hours, we’ve made significant strides, thanks to the FBI’s technical capabilities and our collaborative efforts with partners.”
He added, “In any investigation, someone is considered a person of interest until they are either ruled out or confirmed as the perpetrator. That’s where we are right now in this case.”
Nancy Guthrie, the mother of Today Show host Savannah Guthrie, was last seen entering her home in Tucson, Arizona, on January 31st.
Patel spoke just hours before investigators detained delivery driver Carlos Palazeulos and questioned him over Nancy’s disappearance. He was later released without charge and has since protested his innocence.Â
On Wednesday as the search for Nancy entered its eleventh day, the FBI announced a huge sweep of the Catalina Foothills near the 84-year-old’s $1 million home.
The comment is the bureau’s first since releasing footage of the main suspect in the case, a masked and armed individual seen tampering with a doorbell camera at Nancy’s porch before she vanished.

The FBI released footage on Tuesday showing a masked individual outside of Nancy’s home in Tucson, Arizona
The horrifying footage only came to light on Tuesday morning after investigators said they managed to get into ‘back-end-systems’. It was released later that afternoon.
Guthrie and her husband Michael Feldman both shared images of the suspect in hopes of identifying them.Â
Donald Trump said last Friday that federal investigators had uncovered ‘very strong clues’, but failed to provide any detail. Nearly a week on and it’s still unclear what the president was referring to.Â
In the meantime Guthrie and her siblings Annie and Camron have issued tearful appeals directly to the kidnapper begging for their mother’s return.Â
Their please came after three media outlets reported receiving alleged ransom notes in connection with Nancy’s abduction.
The notes demanded Bitcoin in exchange for the mom-of-three’s release. However the most recent deadline of 5PM local time on Monday appears to have passed without comment.
TMZ reported that a Bitcoin account referenced in letters sent to media outlets has saw some activity after a deadline lapsed.
Unidentified sources involved in the investigation told the outlet that officers believe the ransom notes were written by the kidnapper.

Sources said the letters referenced specific damage to Nancy’s home and other details that have not been made public.Â
On Wednesday TMZ reported it had received another ransom note demanding Bitcoin in exchange for naming the kidnapper.Â
Nancy was last seen entering her home in Tucson on the evening of January 31 after having dinner with her daughter, Annie, and son-in-law, Tommaso Cioni.
The next morning, she was reported missing after failing to attend a virtual church service with friends, Pima County Sheriff Chris Nanos said.Â
Since then, law enforcement has continued to comb over the home, which sits on a large lot on a street with no lights, while Savannah and her two siblings, Anne and Camron, plead for help in finding their mother.Â
Annie and Cioni realized she was missing around 11.10am on February 1, the Pima County Sheriff’s Office said.
They reported her disappearance to police at 12.03pm. Her phone, wallet, vital daily medications and car were still at her Catalina Foothills home.Â
Cioni said he saw his mother-in-law enter her home through the garage before he drove off the night before at around 9.45pm MT.
Investigators said they found drops of blood on Nancy’s front porch that were later confirmed to be hers and that her doorbell camera was disconnected at around 1.45am.Â
Less than 30 minutes later, her security camera detected movement. Her pacemaker stopped transmitting data to her Apple Watch and phone shortly afterwards, suggesting she had been taken out of the devices’ range.Â
Nancy requires medication every 24 hours and it is unclear if whoever abducted her has ensured she has access to her medication.Â
