FISHER, Ill. (WCIA) — A kitchen blaze forced a family of five to evacuate their residence in Fisher late last night.

The incident occurred near the intersection of Park and 2nd Streets. According to Tom Pring, the chief of the Sangamon Valley Fire Protection District, emergency crews were alerted at midnight following reports of smoke emanating from the household.

Upon their arrival, firefighters discovered that a fire had started in a light fixture above the kitchen stove and had spread to the attic.

“The teams managed to douse the flames within minutes of reaching the scene, effectively preventing any further damage,” detailed a Facebook post about the incident. “The fire was confined to the kitchen, and thankfully, there were no injuries, as all residents were safely evacuated.”
