Authorities suspect that a woman was also present inside the property with the man, adding complexity to the situation.

Despite continued efforts to communicate and reach a peaceful resolution, the negotiations did not succeed.

Ultimately, police were compelled to forcibly enter the unit, resulting in the arrest of a 33-year-old man at the scene.

He was taken to hospital under police guard with a dog bite injury.

An officer was also left with minor injuries.

The woman inside the unit was uninjured and police believe the pair are known to one another.
