SPRINGFIELD, Ill. (WCIA) — This week, the Clean Jobs Coalition introduced a new legislative proposal targeting the regulation of data centers across Illinois. Andrew Rehn, who oversees Climate Policy at Prairie Rivers Network in Champaign, shared details about the initiative.

Rehn explained that the proposed POWER Act is designed to alleviate the financial burden on consumers by ensuring data centers cover the costs associated with their electrical infrastructure. This move aims to prevent utility costs from escalating due to the demands of these facilities.
