Zoey Deutch turned heads with a striking appearance at the 2026 Film Independent Spirit Awards this past Sunday.

The 31-year-old actress, who earned a nomination for Best Supporting Performance in the film “Nouvelle Vague,” a tribute to the French New Wave, stood out among a star-studded lineup that included Kirsten Dunst, Keke Palmer, Rose Byrne, and Kaia Gerber.

Deutch chose Valentino, one of her favorite designers, for the occasion. She donned an ivory blazer that served as a dress, complete with front pockets and wide cuffs that elegantly grazed her hands.

The standout feature of her outfit was a large black bow tie, a signature accessory she often favors.

Completing her ensemble, Deutch wore intricately embroidered black hosiery and black pumps, with her hair styled in a sleek bun. Her diamond engagement ring added an extra touch of sparkle to her look.

Lending her loving support at the awards show was her fiancé, the 34-year-old American Vandal star Jimmy Tatro, who looked cool and classy in a black suit and white unbuttoned shirt with no tie. He previously accompanied her to the Sundance Film Festival in January.

Deutch is known for her roles in both comedies and dramas, including Vampire Academy (2014), Set It Up (2018), the Ryan Murphy Netflix series The Politician (2019-2020) and Clint Eastwood’s Juror #2 (2024).

She plays actress Jean Seberg in Richard Linklater’s film Nouvelle Vague, which follows the chaotic 1959 shoot of the iconic French filmmaker Jean-Luc Godard’s Breathless.

Deutch underwent a dramatic transformation to play the American actress and icon of the French New Wave, going from brunette to blonde and cutting her hair in a pixie cut.

When Linklater first offered her the role 11 years ago, Deutch admitted she ‘didn’t know much about Jean, I didn’t know much about New Wave Cinema, but I had a decade to learn,’ she said in a Q&A at the Hammer Museum in December of last year.

‘It’s very rare to have that much time to fall in love with your character and meet your character. I didn’t know how real it was. It was a very passing comment. I didn’t hear anything else again for another five years but of course it was always in the back of my head.’

Seberg died tragically in Paris in 1979  at the age of 40. French police ruled that her death was a probable suicide.

Meanwhile, Deutch and Tatro announced last September that they had secretly been engaged for three months after the YouTuber-turned-actor proposed during their summer getaway in Corsica.

Deutch showed off the cushion-cut diamond ring in her social media post.

She referred to him as the ‘love of my life’ in her caption alongside a photo of them sharing a sweet moment after she accepted his proposal.

Deutch and Tatro first went public with their relationship on Valentine’s Day 2021, when he posted a collage of the pair with the cheeky caption: ‘Just using today as an excuse to post some top-notch untapped Zoey content.’

Their first public appearance as a couple came soon after at a Super Bowl LVI pregame party, and the couple has been inseparable ever since.

Deutch has frequently opened up about their dynamic.

In August 2022, she revealed on the Betches U Up? podcast that their differences keep things exciting.

‘I would be so bored if I was dating someone who agreed with me on everything and thought everything in the same way as me — I’d be so bored by that. I mean I am currently with someone who is my actual polar opposite,’ she said.

Their shared sense of humor has also been a bonding ingredient that works for them.

That same year, Deutch told Lights, Camera, Barstool that Tatro couldn’t even get through her movie Not Okay without cringing.

‘My boyfriend watched it for the first time and he was like, “No! Zoey, why are you doing that?”

‘I don’t know if he actually really watched it because his head was in his hands the whole time,’ she mused.

Beyond Hollywood, the couple has built a love story filled with adventure.

They rang in 2023 with a trip to Antarctica, explored Ireland in August of that year and ended 2023 on the snowy slopes of Colorado with friends.
