A Nigerian doctor has stirred a conversation among young men about marriage, asserting that children primarily inherit their intelligence from their mothers.
He elaborated on this by stating that intelligence is linked to the X chromosome. Women possess two X chromosomes, whereas men have just one, resulting in children predominantly acquiring their cognitive abilities from their mothers.
In his own words, he remarked:
“Children inherit intelligence from their mothers. If you notice a child who isn’t intelligent or smart, look to the mother. Why do I say this? The gene for intelligence is linked to the X chromosome, and women have it in abundance.”
He further advised single men to be discerning when selecting their life partners, stressing that the choice of a spouse significantly influences the traits passed on to their children.
According to him, marrying solely based on looks or physical features like “breast and yansh” could impact the child’s intellectual inheritance.
“Leave breast and yansh. Look for women with good IQ. Very important as a young man. Look at all these things if you want to get married,” he added.
Many reactions have followed comment. One user wrote, “Ah! I never knew intelligence comes from the mother 😳.” Another added, “Smart women are the real MVPs. Men need to wake up.”
The doctor’s advice has sparked debates online, reminding young men that in marriage, looks are not everything.
