A deeply disturbing incident unfolded in Pennsylvania, where a man allegedly attacked his infant son, claiming it was a necessary sacrifice. Michael Phillips, aged 44, now faces serious charges including attempted murder and aggravated assault, as confirmed by the Chester County District Attorney’s Office. The three-month-old victim remains in hospital care as a result of this harrowing event.

The shocking episode took place last Wednesday around 11:30 a.m. The police were alerted to the scene and informed by the baby’s mother that Phillips had approached her wielding a knife, declaring his intention to sacrifice their child. During his assault, he attempted to stab the infant multiple times, striking him once before the mother managed to escape with both the baby and her 9-year-old son.

In a desperate bid for safety, the older child sought help, but Phillips pursued them outside. He seized the baby from his mother and threw the child into the snow. Heroically, the mother shielded her child with her own body until the arrival of emergency responders, who provided the much-needed intervention.

Details from the affidavit reveal that upon the police’s arrival, Phillips had bloodstains on his shirt. Captured on body camera footage, he was heard uttering, “I did it, God, I did it,” along with a chilling assertion that the act was “all part of God’s plan.” This case continues to unfold as authorities push forward with their investigation into this tragic act of violence.

According to an affidavit filed in the case, officers saw blood on Phillips shirt and he was captured on body camer footage saying, “I did it, God, I did it.” He also said, “This was all part of God’s plan.”

The infant was quickly transported to Children’s Hospital of Philadelphia once those first responders were on the scene, according to the Coatesville Police Department.

In addition to attempted murder and aggravated assault, Phillips was charged with endangering the welfare of children, simple assault, and recklessly endangering another person. He was ordered held without bond.
