SAVANNAH, Ga. () — Celebrated country singer and Georgia native Ray Stevens, a Grammy Award winner, unveiled a new track on February 13, paying tribute to the City of Savannah.
With chart-toppers like “Everything is Beautiful” (1970) and “The Streak” (1974), Stevens has accumulated 12 Grammy nominations, securing two wins. Once dubbed the “Clown Prince of Country Music,” his unique blend of music and humor has delighted audiences for decades. His diverse musical repertoire spans genres from bluegrass to jazz, often incorporating witty harmonies.

Remarkably, at 87, Stevens remains active in the music scene.
His latest creation, aptly titled after Savannah, features cover art that highlights beloved local landmarks such as the majestic Southern Live Oaks of Wormsloe, Forsyth Park’s fountain, the Bird Girl statue, and The Mercer Williams House.
This jazzy homage captures the essence of Savannah through its vibrant horn line, backup vocals, and piano. Stevens reflects on his affection for the city, mentioning the bustling port, the city’s many churches, and even its jail. He affectionately dubs Savannah as a city of second chances, exuding the warmth of home.
This song serves as the leading single for his new album, coming out on Apr. 10, titled “Favorites Old and New”. You can listen to “Savannah” today and “Favorites Old and New” on Apr. 10 on popular streaming platforms such as Spotify or Apple Music.
