HINESVILLE, Ga. — The Liberty County girls’ basketball team is gearing up for its 11th consecutive appearance in the state playoffs, marking a significant milestone in their sporting journey.
Despite a setback in the Region 3-AAA championship game, where they were defeated by Jenkins with a score of 44-30, the Lady Panthers secured a playoff game on their home court due to reaching the finals.
Liberty County wrapped up the regular season with an impressive record of 15-8 overall and a 10-3 tally within their region, earning them the top spot in the “A” subregion.
The team awaits the announcement of their first-round challenger as the GHSA Class AAA state tournament is set to kick off on February 24.
“The team has done a commendable job integrating new talent, especially the freshmen,” remarked head coach Kimberly Battle. “We’ve promoted a freshman from JV to varsity who has really stepped up. Although she’s had a few off nights, that’s all part of her growth.”
Last year, the Panthers lost on the road in the first round to Monroe, 72-46.
