GAINESVILLE, Fla. – Authorities have apprehended Ashley Elizabeth Williams, 40, following her alleged involvement in an incident where she fled the scene of a collision that resulted in property damage and personal injury. Additionally, she faces charges for possessing drug paraphernalia. Notably, at the time of this accident, Williams was on pre-trial release due to an earlier arrest on October 2 for driving under the influence in Bradford County.
On the evening of October 30, 2025, at approximately 6:49 p.m., officers from the Gainesville Police Department (GPD) arrived on the scene of a two-car collision on the 2500 block of NW 34th Boulevard. The crash had caused damage to both vehicles involved and resulted in injuries to a passenger in the other car.
Upon investigation, Gainesville Fire Rescue located Williams’s vehicle parked in the driveway of a residence in Northwood Oaks. Observers noted a woman with distinctive purple hair entering the fenced yard of the property. When questioned by a GPD officer, she confirmed her involvement in the crash and ownership of the vehicle. The officer noticed a glass pipe on the driver’s seat of her car, and during her search for paperwork, Williams reportedly moved the pipe.
Following her arrest, Williams was advised of her rights. She allegedly expressed uncertainty about the pipe’s exact location, suggesting it was likely somewhere in the vehicle. The officer later recovered it from beneath the driver’s seat. When questioned about the substance she used the pipe for, Williams reportedly admitted to smoking crack cocaine.
A sworn complaint was filed on November 10, and Judge Robert Groeb signed a warrant for her arrest on January 9, setting bail at $200,000. She was arrested on January 27.
Williams has been charged with leaving the scene of a crash involving non-serious injury, leaving the scene of a crash involving property damage, and possession of drug paraphernalia. She has three felony convictions (one violent) and one misdemeanor conviction for DUI; she has served one state prison sentence and was released in 2022. She was sentenced to probation in December after entering a plea of nolo contendere to driving under the influence in the Bradford County case.
Williams’s attorney filed a motion to reduce her bail of $200,000 on February 3, but Judge Groeb denied the motion on February 9, and she is still in the Alachua County Jail.
