A New York resident faces attempted murder charges after allegedly attempting to kill his sister using a crossbow.

Samy Sedhom, aged 21, was taken into custody on Sunday following an incident where he allegedly shot a crossbow at his 28-year-old sister as she exited her vehicle upon returning from the gym. The Nassau County Police Department reported that officers responded to a call on Saturday regarding a woman who was bleeding from a facial injury. She was hospitalized and is in stable condition, with reports indicating the arrow had “grazed” the side of her face.

Court documents accessed by local news outlet WABC reveal that Sedhom had been plotting his sister’s murder for several months.

According to the police report, the sister recounted returning home from her gym session on Saturday night. As she was punching in the garage code, she suddenly felt a sharp pain on her face’s right side. Realizing she was bleeding, she immediately contacted the police. She also reportedly observed Sedhom parked across the street from their residence.

During a search of the premises, officers discovered a hunting arrow embedded in the garage wall. Further investigation inside the house led to the discovery of a box in Sedhom’s room, which had once contained the crossbow purportedly used in the attack. Authorities also found and confiscated a Katana samurai sword and a laptop. Sedhom was apprehended without any further incident the following day.

According to court documents, Sedhom admitted that he fired the crossbow at his sister and had been planning to kill her since Christmas. A reason was not specified.

Sedhom was arraigned in Nassau District Court in Mineola, New York, on Sunday and pleaded not guilty to attempted murder, assault, criminal possession of a weapon, tampering with physical evidence, and stalking. He was ordered to be held at the Nassau County Jail without bail and to stay away from his sister. His next court appearance was scheduled for Feb. 18.
