Authorities in Alabama have taken a mother into custody, charging her with making a false report to law enforcement in the case of her missing toddler.
The Enterprise Police Department announced the arrest of 33-year-old Adrienne Reid, linked to the disappearance of her 2-year-old daughter, Genesis Reid.
Initially, Reid reported to the police that her daughter had vanished early Monday morning, discovering an open door, according to previous coverage by CrimeOnline. However, neighbors have stated they hadn’t seen the child since early January, despite regularly spotting her on walks with her mother before then.
Authorities noted that a thorough search of the nearby vicinity did not yield any clues regarding the girl’s whereabouts. As the investigation progressed, detectives uncovered discrepancies in the information Reid had provided.
While the Enterprise Police lead the ongoing investigation, they are now collaborating with federal, state, and other local agencies to resolve the case.
They said they are still looking for someone known as “Moriah” as a person of interest but said she is not considered a suspect.
Reid is currently being held without bond, WTVY reported. Coffee County District Attorney James Tarbox told the station he plans to ask a judge at Reid’s first hearing to set bail outside the guidelines for a false reporting charge.
Anyone with information related to the whereabouts of Genesis Reid is asked to contact the Enterprise Police Department at 334-347-2222.
