URBANA, Ill. (WCIA) — Champaign County has implemented a new directive starting Tuesday. Champaign County Executive Steve Summers issued a formal order outlining the protocol for county officials if a U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) agent enters any county facility.
This directive applies to locations such as the Bennett Administrative Center, the county highway department, the Brookens Administrative Center, and the coroner’s office.
On Tuesday, local leaders discussed the implications of this new order for the county, while Republican officials expressed their opposition.
