AUGUSTA, Ga. () – A tragic incident unfolded on Winesap Way in Augusta on Wednesday, resulting in one fatality, as confirmed by the Richmond County Sheriff’s Office.
Officials reported that deputies were dispatched around 7:30 p.m. on February 18 in response to a reported shooting. Upon their arrival, they discovered a male victim suffering from a gunshot wound. He was swiftly taken to Wellstar Medical Center, where he later died from his injuries.
The victim’s identity is currently being withheld, pending notification of his family, according to the Richmond County Coroner’s Office.
Investigators specializing in violent crimes, along with crime scene technicians, are actively working at the site. Further updates will be provided as more information becomes available.
