Pima County Sheriff Chris Nanos remains open to all possibilities as the search intensifies for the suspect involved in the abduction of Today host Savannah Guthrie‘s mother, Nancy Guthrie.
On February 17, Nanos revealed to NBC News that security footage of the 84-year-old might have captured the suspect sporting a distinctive ring on his pinky finger.
“I examined the same footage you have, and I think I see what you’re seeing,” Nanos shared with the outlet. “I’m passing this information to my team. They’ll scrutinize it and determine its significance. It could be something.”
Previously, In Touch reported that FBI Director Kash Patel utilized X on February 10 to release images of a suspect seen near Nancy’s residence. He noted, “These newly available images show an armed individual tampering with the security camera at Nancy Guthrie’s front door on the morning she vanished.”
The suspect in the footage was seen wearing gloves, and investigators discovered a glove near the scene, hoping it might yield a DNA match. However, Nanos posted on X on Tuesday, confirming that the glove did not provide the anticipated results.
“DNA evidence from gloves found approximately 2 miles from Nancy Guthrie’s residence was submitted to CODIS & produced no matches,” the post read. “There is additional DNA evidence that was found at the residence that is also being analyzed.”
“The DNA that was submitted to CODIS was from the set of gloves found 2 miles away,” a second post read. “It did not trigger a match in CODIS & did not match DNA found at the property. The DNA found at the property is being analyzed & further testing needs to be done as part of the investigation.”
Additionally, on Monday, February 16, Nanos via X announced that Nancy’s children and “all siblings and spouses have been cleared as possible suspects.”
