In a heartfelt tribute, the state of Florida is set to honor the late Terry Fields, a respected former Jacksonville City Council member and Florida Representative, who recently passed away at the age of 66. To commemorate his life and service, flags at the Florida State Capitol and throughout Duval County will be lowered to half-staff on Friday.
Fields, who succumbed to a brief illness on February 8, will be remembered for his unwavering commitment to his community. A memorandum has declared that flags should remain lowered from sunrise to sunset as a mark of respect for his contributions.
On Thursday, a gathering of friends, family, and city officials attended services in Jacksonville to pay their final respects to Fields. The solemn occasion underscored the significant impact he had on those around him.
During his career, Fields made a notable difference first as a member of the Jacksonville City Council and later as a state representative for Florida’s 14th District in the early 2000s. Known for his bipartisan approach and dedication to supporting working families, the Democrat left an indelible mark on the political landscape through his collaborative efforts and leadership.
