Authorities are advising residents to exercise caution near Ravenwood Drive as emergency responders work to control a wildfire in the area.
GREEN COVE SPRINGS, Fla. — Firefighting teams are actively battling a wildfire in Green Cove Springs, according to official reports.
The Jacksonville Forestry Center of the Florida Forest Service reported on Thursday afternoon that units were dispatched to combat the blaze near Ravenwood Drive, adjacent to County Road 209.
Later updates from the Florida Forest Service indicated that the wildfire had spread across 10 acres and was 50% contained.
“The Jacksonville Forestry Center has successfully halted the forward spread of the Ravenwood Fire and is enhancing containment lines,” officials reported after 5 p.m. “Crews will continue to reinforce these lines and initiate mop-up operations. Residents in the vicinity should remain cautious as firefighting efforts are ongoing.”
