Anime enthusiasts are constantly on the lookout for fresh series to enjoy over the weekend, and they especially value opportunities to view content at no cost through legal channels. This weekend, a well-loved yet often debated series will be accessible for free to fans in the United States.
Initially launched online in 2013, RWBY started as a heartfelt homage to action anime by Rooster Teeth. Over time, it evolved into a significant franchise, boasting nine seasons, crossover films with DC’s Justice League, video games, comics, novels, and various spin-offs. For those unfamiliar with the allure of this quirky and enduring series, there’s now a perfect chance to dive in. All episodes of RWBY will be available for free during a marathon on Pluto TV from February 21 to February 22.
This week, @OfficialRWBY announced on X (formerly known as Twitter), “Volume 1 of RWBY is now up for streaming on @PlutoTV. The remaining volumes will be released throughout the week. Additionally, catch the all-day RWBY marathon on the Pluto TV app on 2/21 & 2/22!”
RWBY Gets New Free Streaming Home This Week Ahead of New Volume 10 Release
“Volume 1 of RWBY is now available to stream on @PlutoTV,” @OfficialRWBY posted on X (formerly Twitter) this week. “And the rest of the volumes will be rolling out this week. Also, this weekend, you can tune into an all-day RWBY marathon happening on the Pluto TV app on 2/21 & 2/22!”
Set in the technologically advanced yet highly fantastical world of Remnant, RWBY primarily tells the tale of four girls — Ruby Rose, Weiss Schnee, Blake Belladonna and Yang Xiao Long — as they train to become Huntresses and combat the monstrous Grimm who threaten humanity, along with numerous other villains.
The series is beloved by its fans for its large cast of endearing characters, expansive lore, multiple open-ended power systems, and balance of heavy drama and lighthearted comedy. Especially during the first several volumes, spearheaded by the show’s late co-creator Monty Oum, the series is also known for featuring some of the most over-the-top action in anime history.

Vol. 9 of the original animated RWBY series concluded in April 2023 with its 116th episode, with many believing this would be the end of the line for the show, especially after Rooster Teeth was officially shut down. However, things have changed a great deal since then; not only has Viz Media acquired the rights to RWBY, but pre-production on Vol. 10 has been ongoing since last year. Additionally, while it may not be directly involved in future RWBY productions, Rooster Teeth has now been revived by one of the company’s co-founders, Bernie Burns.
This weekend is the absolute best time for newcomers to RWBY to learn what all the hype is about, and for the core U.S. fandom to celebrate their favorite show with a marathon rewatch.
