According to the Chicago Police Department, around 3:50 a.m., three male suspects forced their way through the business’s front entrance. They made off with the ATM, escaping in a white vehicle.
Business owner Ronnie Birt lamented that such incidents reflect broader challenges facing the community in Chicago.
“Sadly, we lack sufficient police presence in this neighborhood, making it easy for criminals to target businesses here,” Birt commented. “This isn’t an isolated event. It’s happened multiple times, and if you check the records, you’ll see many businesses have been hit.”
At about the same time, burglars struck in the 5500-block of North Milwaukee Avenue.
Police said two male suspects broke the front window of the business, stole an ATM and then fled northbound in a white SUV.
Area Five detectives are investigating both burglaries. Police have not said if they are related.
