VIDALIA, Ga. — In a remarkable showcase of talent, both the boys and girls basketball teams from Vidalia clinched the Region 3-A DI championships on Friday.
The boys’ team emerged victorious against Swainsboro with a nail-biting 42-37 finish. They wrapped up their regular season with an impressive 23-2 record, maintaining an unblemished 16-0 streak on their home court.
Star point guard Rashad Brown has been a powerhouse this season, leading the team with averages of 18.5 points, 7.2 rebounds, 3.2 assists, and 2.8 steals per game.
Meanwhile, the Vidalia girls triumphed over Savannah Country Day with a decisive 48-30 win. After trailing 18-14 at halftime, they dominated the second half, outscoring the Hornets by 22 points to claim victory.
Under the guidance of head coach Kourtnee Williams, the girls’ squad has now secured consecutive region championships, marking a significant achievement for the team.
“I can’t say enough about this group,” said Williams. “They’re extremely special and undefeated in the region two years in a row. I couldn’t have asked for a better team.”
