A 53-year-old sergeant stationed at the Northern Region Command in New South Wales is facing charges after reportedly failing a breath test. The incident occurred around 11:30 a.m. on the Pacific Highway in Coffs Harbour.
Following the initial roadside test, the officer was taken into custody and transported to Woolgoolga Police Station. There, a more thorough breath analysis was conducted, registering a blood alcohol concentration of 0.131, indicating mid-range drink driving.
Authorities have charged the sergeant with driving under the influence, and his driving license has been suspended. He has been issued a Future Court Attendance Notice to address these charges.
Later the same day, at around 9:15 p.m., police responded to an incident on Red Rock Road in Red Rock, near Coffs Harbour. Members of the public had reportedly detained a driver who was observed driving erratically.

The driver – allegedly the same one – allegedly tested positive.
He was arrested and taken to Coffs Harbour Police Station where he returned a breath analysis reading of 0.191.
He was charged with high-range PCA and drive motor vehicle whilst licence suspended.
