Kimberly Van Der Beek continues to cherish the connection her family had with Eric Dane.
Following the passing of the Grey’s Anatomy star on February 19 at 53, Kimberly, whose husband James Van Der Beek had died just a week earlier after battling cancer, reached out with a heartfelt note to Eric’s estranged wife, Rebecca Gayheart. She fondly remembered the times they spent together.
On February 21, Kimberly, aged 43, took to her Instagram Stories, posting a nostalgic photo of herself and James alongside Eric, Rebecca, and their daughters, Billie and Georgia, now aged 15 and 14, respectively. The image captured the group on a red carpet, with Kimberly writing, “Will miss our guys laughing at Christmas parties together.”
While navigating her own pain, Kimberly, a mother of six with the late Dawson’s Creek star, offered a message of encouragement to Rebecca for the challenges that lie ahead.
“RIP @realericdane,” she expressed. “We love you @rebeccagayheartdane.”
And the Once Upon a Time in Hollywood actress appeared to appreciate the kind gesture, reposting Kimberly’s message on her own Instagram Story along with a mending heart emoji while adding, “So much love for you.”
