LOS ANGELES (WCIA) — In a dramatic overtime finish, UCLA edged past Illinois with a last-second layup, overcoming a significant first-half deficit. The Illini, who once led by 23 points, eventually succumbed to a 95-94 defeat.
Keaton Wagler appeared to secure the win for Illinois when he hit a clutch put-back jumper with under five seconds remaining in overtime. However, the Bruins’ Donovan Dent dashed Illini hopes with a decisive layup just before the buzzer.
Initially, Illinois dominated the game, racing to a commanding 23-point lead. However, UCLA’s resilience was evident as they closed the gap to 50-43 by halftime.

Despite falling behind by five points, Illinois battled fiercely to regain control. With 19 seconds remaining, Keaton Wagler coolly sank two free throws, tying the game and forcing it into overtime.
