Authorities are urging the public to steer clear of the vicinity around Oldfield Crossing Drive and Old St. Augustine Road as an investigation is underway.
JACKSONVILLE, Fla. — The Jacksonville Sheriff’s Office is delving into a shooting incident that occurred close to the Lowe’s store in the Mandarin area on Sunday.
According to a Sunday afternoon briefing from the JSO, officers responded to a call about a shooting near the intersection of Oldfield Crossing Drive and Old St. Augustine Road at approximately 2 p.m.
Upon arrival, they discovered a man in his 20s suffering from gunshot wounds to both his chest and stomach. He was swiftly transported to a nearby hospital, where he remains in critical condition.
Meanwhile, a short distance away near the intersection of Old St. Augustine Road and Bartram Park Blvd., police located a vehicle they believe is connected to the shooting. Inside the car, they found an individual with a gunshot wound to the wrist.
Police say the shooting began during a dispute between two people in the Lowe’s parking lot. Details of the dispute were not yet clear as of Sunday’s briefing, JSO said, but both parties are believed to have exchanged gunfire.
Everyone involved is believed to be in custody.
