Savannah Guthrie has been notably absent from her usual hosting duties on Today following the disappearance of her mother, Nancy Guthrie, who was reported missing on February 1.
Amidst the uncertainty surrounding this personal crisis, there was speculation about whether the popular host would return to her role. However, on February 23, insider sources revealed to Rob Shuter that Guthrie intends to make a comeback.
“Her return will be filled with emotion and challenges,” a source shared with Shuter on his Naughty but Nice Substack. “But she is determined to come back, honoring her mother’s memory.”

Although no specific timeline has been set, and NBC is not exerting any pressure on her, another source mentioned, “Savannah’s career has been a testament to her mother’s sacrifices. Abandoning it now would feel like allowing the tragedy to overshadow her strength.”
The search for the 84-year-old is now in its fourth week, with few details available about her disappearance. According to Pima County Sheriff Chris Nanos, she was allegedly abducted from her residence in Tucson, Arizona, in the early hours of February 1 by a masked individual.

The Sheriff’s Department, along with the FBI, are working around the clock to bring her home and have offered a $100,000 reward for any information leading to her or the arrest and conviction of her kidnappers.
“They may have taken her mother,” a source told Shuter, “but they will not take her career too.”
