Costing just $2.99, this indulgent dessert combines mint ice cream, cookie crumbles, and chocolate sauce, delivering a calorie count of 790.
WASHINGTON — In celebration of St. Patrick’s Day, Costco is introducing a mint-inspired dessert that’s quickly gaining popularity online.
The retail giant recently added a double chocolate mint sundae to its food court menu, as reported by social media influencers and various local news outlets.
Costco Buys, an Instagram account dedicated to tracking deals at the warehouse chain, highlighted the treat as a delightful taste of spring amidst the winter chill.
“This sundae features mint ice cream layered with cookie crumbles and a generous drizzle of chocolate sauce, all presented in a clear cup for a visual treat,” the account shared. “The combination of mint and chocolate is both refreshing and decadently chocolatey.”
Costco doesn’t often announce changes to its offerings but instead relies on word of mouth to spread details about changes to its popular food court lineup.
The $2.99 treat features mint ice cream layered with cookie crumbles and chocolate sauce. Customers can also order a simpler cup of mint ice cream for $1.99, without the chocolate or cookie crumbles. The full sundae clocks in at 790 calories.
The new dessert began appearing in warehouses around Feb. 16, according to reports from food publications and social media accounts that monitor new Costco offerings.
The launch comes as seasonal mint treats begin to reappear across the fast-food and retail landscape, including the return of the Shamrock Shake at McDonald’s a day later on Feb. 17.
It’s unclear if the newest menu item is rolling out nationwide, but sightings have reported at locations in Las Vegas and San Francisco.
Costco has not yet responded to a request for comment about the new menu item or how long it will remain available.
