How to obtain the Master Ball in Pokemon LeafGreen and FireRed

1) Reach Saffron City: To get your hands on the Master Ball, you must navigate through the storyline until you can access Silph Co. in Saffron City. However, this area remains inaccessible until you secure the Rainbow Badge from Erika in Celadon City, which is your fourth badge.
2) Overcome Team Rocket at Silph Co.: Within the walls of Silph Co., you’ll encounter numerous Team Rocket members and have to solve intricate puzzles to ascend the building. Your main objective is to reach the 11th floor and defeat Giovanni, the mastermind behind Team Rocket.
2) Defeat Team Rocket at Silph Co.: Inside Silph Co., you’ll need to beat multiple Team Rocket grunts and solve the structure’s puzzles to go higher. Your ultimate goal is to reach the 11th floor and defeat Giovanni, the leader of Team Rocket.
After battling through the building and Giovanni, you will effectively free the Silph Co. from their control.
3) Receive the Master Ball: Once Team Rocket is beaten, the president of Silph Co. will reward you for your efforts. As a token of gratitude, he gives you the only possible Master Ball in Pokemon LeafGreen and FireRed per run.

Master Ball has a 100% catch rate, meaning it will capture any wild Pokemon without fail. Because you only receive one during the storyline, it’s strongly recommended that you save it for a Legendary Pokemon encounter, who are famously known to have low catch rates.
Most recommended use of Master Ball in FireRed and LeafGreen:
- Mewtwo (Cerulean Cave)
- Articuno (Seafoam Islands)
- Zapdos (Power Plant)
- Moltres (Mt. Ember)
Among these, Mewtwo is the most common choice due to its high level and difficulty to catch through conventional means.
