The hosts of The View recently shared their thoughts on President Donald Trump’s State of the Union address. Joy Behar wasn’t just frustrated with Trump; she also expressed her displeasure with Vice President JD Vance and Speaker of the House Mike Johnson.

Whoopi Goldberg mentioned she stayed true to her word by enjoying an episode of Bob’s Burgers during the evening. However, she confessed to feeling compelled to tune into Trump’s address once the show concluded at 8 p.m., and admitted she watched it in its entirety, much to her chagrin.

Goldberg described feeling physically ill and more nauseated than usual while listening to Trump’s rhetoric. She was particularly disturbed by his demonization of immigrants. “It made me sick,” she emphasized, adding that she reminded her husband about what has historically made America unique—the welcoming of immigrants, unlike many other countries.

Behar shared a personal anecdote about her family’s migration from Southern Italy due to lack of work, highlighting that this journey is why she is here today. This reflection deepened her sadness and frustration as she watched the address.

Her emotions were compounded by the actions of Vance and Johnson, whom she likened to “Bert and Ernie,” saying their antics behind Trump added to her anger and fear. “That’s the reason America has been what it is,” she said, trying to articulate her disappointment without launching into a full speech.

Behar continued, “Every time he lied, ‘The economy is great,’ these idiots would be [going], ‘Yay!’ ‘Everything’s great, immigrants are the problem.’ ‘Yay!’”
