Bill Gates, now 70, has acknowledged that associating with Jeffrey Epstein was a significant misjudgment, emphasizing that he “never spent any time with victims, the women around him.” His comments reflect his regret over the connection, which has been a subject of public scrutiny.
Addressing the issue, Gates expressed his remorse: “I apologize to other people who are drawn into this because of the mistake that I made,” he stated, as reported by the Journal.
According to the publication, Gates also revealed to his staff that he had two extramarital affairs with Russian women, which Epstein later became aware of. Despite these revelations, Gates has never been implicated in any misconduct by Epstein’s victims.
Meanwhile, Melinda French Gates, his ex-wife, remarked that the recent disclosures regarding her former husband brought back memories of “very, very painful” moments during their marriage, underscoring the personal impact of the situation.
French Gates said the most recent references to her ex-husband in the documents reminded her of “very, very painful” times in the marriage.
“Whatever questions remain there of what – I can’t even begin to know all of it – those questions are for those people and for even my ex-husband,” French Gates told NPR’s Wild Card podcast.
“They need to answer to those things, not me.”
The Gateses announced their divorce in 2021.
