A woman from the Chicago suburbs is set to appear in court on Wednesday, facing serious charges related to the carjacking and death of delivery driver Daniel Figueroa.

Authorities allege that the woman, alongside two accomplices, stole Figueroa’s minivan and ran over him in the process.

Despite the severity of the charges, which include felony murder and vehicular hijacking, Montoya Perry from Maywood appeared smiling in her police booking photo.

The charges stem from an incident that occurred in the early hours of Monday morning, leaving Perry accused of a violent crime.

Figueroa’s long-term partner, Sandra Guerrero, shared that he had just finished a shift with Amazon and was planning to earn extra income through Uber Eats when the tragic event unfolded.

She said he had just dropped off his final food order of the night at Loretto Hospital when three people allegedly tried to steal his minivan.

Investigators said Perry was behind the wheel when Figueroa tried to stop her from driving off. He ended up being dragged for half a block before being run over with his own vehicle.

Chicago police said the Downers Grove native died after being found around 2 a.m. that same morning lying in the street unresponsive on West Flournoy Street on the city’s West Side.

Daniel’s death has left his family and friends devastated. His girlfriend shared her grief.

“It was important to be here just because Daniel didn’t deserve this,” Guerrero said. “Even though they have one person in custody, we still need justice to be served. He was a really devoted guy. He was loving, funny, all of it and he really didn’t deserve to go out like that.”

Investigators said they’ve recovered Figueroa’s minivan. His family said he cared deeply about people and loved to fish as a hobby.

They said they just want justice.

Meanwhile, investigators are still looking for the suspect’s two accomplices.

A woman investigators said is responsible for the carjacking and murder of delivery driver Daniel Figueroa is scheduled to appear in court Wednesday, accused of striking the man with his own car as she took his vehicle.

Montoya Perry, 33, of Maywood has been charged with the crime.

The suspect faces felony murder and vehicular hijacking charges for the early Monday morning attack.

The victim’s girlfriend said Figueroa, who is from the Downers Grove, had just gotten off work from Amazon and planned to work extra hours for UberEats when the unthinkable happened.

Chicago police said the 28-year old died after being found un-responsive on West Flournoy Street on the city’s West Side.

His death has left his family and friends devastated.

“I’m confused, I’m lost, I’m sad,” his girlfriend Sandra Guerroro said. “Like, I don’t know what to do.”

Guerrero described Figueroa as a dedicated family man who treated her son like his own. He was a people person who loved to fish and, overall, loved to take care of others. She said he worked multiple jobs to help support their family.

Sandra and her family said they just want justice for Daniel.

The suspect is due to appear at a detention hearing later Wednesday.

Perry allegedly participated in taking 28-year-old Downers Grove man Daniel Figueroa’s vehicle in the 5500-block of West Flournoy Street near Loretto Hospital earlier that day.

Figueroa was fatally struck by his own vehicle as the driver fled the scene, police said. Figueroa, found just after 2 a.m. Monday, was taken to Mt. Sinai Hospital, where he was pronounced dead.

Figueroa’s girlfriend, Sandra Guerrero, spoke with ABC7 from her family’s home in Joliet on Monday.

Guerrero last saw her boyfriend on Sunday night. He had just gotten off work from Amazon and planned to work extra hours for Uber Eats, but he never made it home.

“I didn’t get no texts or no call from him until his mom reached out to me at 7 in the morning saying, you know, he had passed away,” Guerrero said. “Today, it’s my son’s birthday. We had the whole day planned out for him to spend it with him. And it, just, I can’t believe it right now.”

Guerrero described Figueroa as a dedicated family man who treated her son like his own. He was a people person who loved to fish and, overall, loved to take care of others. She says he worked multiple jobs to help support their family.

Police did not immediately provide further information.
