Liverpool native Daniel Heffy, currently serving as Executive Chef at NORD, is making waves as a contestant on the BBC’s Great British Menu 2026. His culinary career took off at just 16, when he began working on the HMS Mounts Bay and HMS Iron Duke as part of the Sea Cadets, igniting his passion for cooking.
Daniel’s early training involved a culinary course at college, where he refined his skills under the guidance of Wirral chef Paul Askew. Here, he mastered the art of blending local ingredients with fine dining techniques, laying a strong foundation for his future endeavors.
In Liverpool, Daniel has been instrumental in several gastronomic initiatives. He collaborated with Paul Askew to open The Art School Restaurant, initiated the underground supper club Secret Diners Club, and managed the beloved local hotspot, Buyers Club.
His culinary journey then took an international turn in 2017 when he moved to Stockholm. There, he worked at Frantzén, a prestigious three-Michelin-starred restaurant, followed by a leadership role at the Nordic eatery Adam/Albin as Head Chef, where he played a pivotal role in earning the restaurant its Michelin star.
Returning to Liverpool in 2023, Daniel launched NORD in collaboration with GSG Hospitality, a prominent independent hospitality group in the North. Bringing together his experiences from the UK and Scandinavia, NORD is a celebration of Northern heritage and hospitality, with a focus on local suppliers and seasonal produce.
