A tragic incident unfolded when a woman reportedly struck a man with her vehicle, dragging him for 87 feet, before leaving the scene to report for her job at McDonald’s.

Kerri Walden, 44, faced arrest by the Florida Highway Patrol nearly a year after the alleged hit-and-run incident involving 45-year-old Jacob Mull. Detained on February 23, Walden was charged with fleeing the scene of an accident that resulted in a fatality. Initially held at the Hernando County Jail with a $5,000 bond, her bail was subsequently reduced to $2,500. According to court records, Walden was released on bond the following day, February 24.

The incident dates back to April 15, 2025, when Walden was reportedly stopped at a red light in Brooksville. According to an arrest report obtained by Oxygen, as the light turned green, she proceeded forward, striking Mull, who was said to be “lying in the westbound lane of Wiscan Road at the intersection of California Street.”

Mull became ensnared beneath Walden’s vehicle, per the report, and was dragged along the road for a significant distance.

Authorities later traced Walden’s vehicle to a McDonald’s restaurant several miles from the accident site. The car was found with a missing front bumper and blood on its undercarriage, according to the police report.

Walden told police during an interview at McDonald’s, which was quoted in the report, that she knew she “hit something” but wasn’t sure if it was a deer. She said that after the collision, she stopped at 7 Eleven, where she placed her broken front bumper inside her car, then headed to McDonald’s to work her shift. Walden failed to report the collision, per the report, and fled the scene.

When police compared Mull’s blood to that on Walden’s car, the analysis confirmed a match. Per the report, “The observed DNA profile is greater than 700 billion times more likely to occur if the sample originated from Jacob Mull,” than if it had come from another individual.

An attorney for Walden did not immediately return a request for comment from Oxygen and it is unclear if she has entered a plea. Walden is scheduled to appear in court on April 2.
