AUGUSTA, Ga. ()- Excitement fills the air for Augusta University as students and faculty make their way to the Georgia State Capitol for the much-anticipated AU Capitol Day.
During this event, participants will engage with local and state officials, accompanied by President Dr. Russell T. Keen and the First Lady. The day promises insightful interactions and networking opportunities.
The itinerary includes an enlightening tour of the Capitol, where they will witness the Senate and House in action. Additionally, attendees will gain valuable insights from government leaders on pivotal issues influencing the future of higher education and healthcare in Georgia.
One student shares his aspirations for the visit to the State Capitol.
“I’m eager to learn more about the ongoing conference committee discussions and to advocate for the university’s needs and goals. We’re actively working on constructing a significant research facility on the health science campus, so continuing to champion the student experience at our university is crucial,” expressed John Blalock, an Undergraduate SGA representative.
Another student says he’d like to bring back some information to AU.
“I’m hoping to just kind of make some connections with some people and learn more about how the university system Georgia works and how the capitol and everything runs on a daily basis. So I can kind of understand how those big government facilities kind of just works and I can kind of, you know, implement those where I want to my own organizations,” said Sean Strickland, VP of the Inter Fraternity Council at Augusta University.
They will be visiting the State Capitol from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m.
